History of Madison Community Gospel Choir

Established in the fall of 2002, the Madison Community Gospel Choir (MCGC) was formed to give individuals from various churches, ethnicities and backgrounds an opportunity to sing, perform and celebrate gospel music. There are no prerequisites to join other than to come with a professional manner and a mindset to learn and be counted on. MCGC is not intended to be a platform to persuade and attempt to convert individuals to Christianity although people are free to express their convictions emotionally and physically (tears, waving of hands, testimonies, etc.). In fact, many MCGC participants have noted that the sessions have been very therapeutic for them. More importantly, it is an opportunity to fellowship and meet other people in the Madison community area who share a similar desire to be a part of something positive, inspirational and unifying.

Adding yet another exciting component or dimension to its presentations is the fact that almost one hundred percent of MCGC’s songs are original music compositions of area gospel artists/composers who also take part in the teaching and performance of their work. This provides an effective way for artists/composers to successfully demonstrate, debut and even publish their work.

Workshop sessions were conducted twice a year for approximately eight weeks during the spring and fall and culminate with a PC&F concert. Glance over at the right column for a list of Madison Community Gospel Choir from 2002 - 2009.

Madison Community Gospel Choir is a product of the Artist Recreation Youth Academy, base programming division of the M.C.N.A.I.R., Inc. (Music Center Network for Artists, Ideas & Recreation) in Madison, Wisconsin!
